About the Presenter
Vijay is a graduate of University of Wollongong with double majors in Computer Science and Management.
Prior to moving to Bendigo in October 2009, Vijay taught ESL (English as a Second Language) and EAP (English for Academic Purpose) at UNSW (University of New South Wales) in Sydney.
Currently he is studying for Master of Education in (TESOL).
Vijay was instrumental in preventing his teenage son (and many others since then) from dropping out of high school in 2002. Like many teenagers, his son was going through a rough patch and had lost the motivation to complete his high school studies.
Recognising that his son's lack of motivation to study stemmed from not knowing how to study, Vijay taught him how to study effectively. This empowered his son and gave him the tools he needed to become an independent learner.
Learning how to study was one of the best things his son did. It helped him to score 94.95% in the HSC exam of 2004. This young man is currently pursuing higher studies at University.
This incident made Vijay realise that we teach our children how to swim, how to drive, but for some strange reason we never teach them how to study. Perhaps we take it for granted that our children will someday be shown or they will learn how to study by themselves.
In reality, very few students figure out how to study by themselves. Students who fail to master the art of learning often find themselves struggling at school and later at TAFE or universities.
Give your child a head start by enrolling them in the study skills program. It will pay huge dividends in their academic career. Apart from helping them to achieve better grades, it will boost their self esteem, their inner confidence and will help them to become independent learners.
Act now. Invest in your child's future. This small investment of $299.00 will continue to pay huge dividents in coming years.
This course runs over eight hours, so it works out to be less than $38.00 per hour.
