About the Presenter

Vijay is a graduate of University of Wollongong with double majors in Computer Science and Management. Prior to switching careers from I.T into Education in 2008, he worked for more than twenty two years in the I.T industry.
In February of 2008, he acquired CELTA certification that qualified him to teach English as a Second Language (ESL).

Before moving to Bendigo in October 2009 from Sydney, Vijay taught English for Academic Purpose (EAP) and Foundation Studies courses at UNSW in their Institute of Languages.

Vijay was instrumental in preventing his teenage son (and many others since then) from dropping out of high school in 2002. Like many teenagers, his son was going through a rough patch and had lost the motivation to complete his high school studies.

Recognising that his son's lack of motivation to study stemmed from not knowing how to study, Vijay taught him how to study effectively. This empowered his son and gave him the tools he needed to become an independent learner.

Learning how to study was one of the best things his son did. It helped him to score 94.95% in the HSC exam of 2004. This young man is currently pursuing higher studies at University.

This incident made Vijay realise that we teach our children how to swim, how to drive, but for some strange reason we never teach them how to study. Perhaps we take it for granted that our children will someday be shown or they will learn how to study by themselves.

In reality, very few students figure out how to study by themselves. Students who fail to master the art of learning often find themselves struggling at school and later at TAFE or universities.

Give your child a head start by enrolling them in the study skills program. It will pay huge dividends in their academic career. Apart from helping them to achieve better grades, it will boost their self esteem, their inner confidence and will help them to become independent learners.

Act now; make this small and a timely investment in your child's academic career before it's too late.
